4 - 7pm

Featuring author/Refugio owner Brigit Binns and Sommelier Ali Carscaden

Refugio is very excited to welcome respected sommelier Ali Carscaden of 15C in Templeton. Ali will introduce the class to six Spanish wines they may never have encountered before—ranging from Cava to Txakoli to three unique styles of Tempranillo.
Having lived in Southern Spain for three years, where she owned a catering business and edited the local English-language magazine, Brigit Binns has grasped the bull by the horns (as it were) and paired the six wines with unusual, flavor-forward small dishes, all gently influenced by Spanish cuisine. Preparation of each dish will be clearly demonstrated (then eaten, of course, with the chosen wine); printed recipes will be provided.
You will Learn (and eat):
*  Marcona almonds and Refugio estate house-cured olives (Cava)
*  Sea Urchin and Cultured Butter Crostini (Txakoli)
*  Spicy Tuna Crudo (Albarino)
*  Roasted Market Carrots with Sweet Pepper Romesco (Rioja)
*  Smoked Duck and Wild Mushroom Salad (Toro Tempranillo)
*  Three-Pork Burgers with Whole-Grain Mustard Mayo (Ribera del Duero)
Special guest Ali Carscaden, owner and sommelier of 15 Degrees C, has a passion for wines and loves to travel.  Her favorite wine styles are French and Spanish, and every year she plans learning adventures to various regions of each country. She is excited to share her knowledge and love of all things Spanish with our class.
This is a demonstration class; the fee is $110 and includes a welcome glass of Cava and five more generous tastings of Spanish Wines selected by Ali Carscaden of 15 Degrees C. Wines tasted will be available for purchase. ** Class will be limited to 14 students. Click here to reserve your spot.
